Projects rooted in collaboration, community and connection — exploring how music can bring people together beyond race, language, culture and creed.
Collaboration
Collaboration is at the heart of my artistic practice. I've written and recorded with musicians on releases like Tírdhreacha agus Fuaimdhreacha and Gormacha, and shared stages with artists including Hothouse Flowers and Manchán Magan. Beyond music, I love working with printmakers, visual artists, costume designers and filmmakers, letting different disciplines meet, influence each other, and grow into something completely unique.
Teaching
Teaching and mentoring mean as much to me as performing. I've shared music from Irish universities and masterclasses in Japan to storytelling with children at Australia's Port Fairy Folk Festival and the Lajee Centre in Palestine. This year, I spent time working with Music Generation in Cork and Dún Laoghaire, and it let me pass on what I've learned to a new generation of young musicians, while learning just as much from them.
Community
Community sits at the heart of everything I do. From reimagining the ancient Irish "Stations" tradition as a wandering trail of music, dance and storytelling through Belfast's Waterworks Park for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, to presenting Ceol na mBan, a four part Irish language radio series on women's music from around the world for Raidió Fáilte. In 2024, I swam 6.5km across the Bosphorus (Asia to Europe) with my sister Tiarna, raising almost 12,000 euro for a community gym in Bethlehem and an arts foundation supporting musicians in Gaza.
